Philhealth New Scheme & Andy

September 30th, 2011 No comments

About three weeks ago Andy got confined in the hospital due to pneumonia.  She must have caught it in school, from a classmate ora friend. I don’t know. But one thing is for sure, once she gets that sick, I die a thousand deaths as well.

We paid quite an amount after about two days of confinement alone. But you know what, PhilHealth or the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation actually implemented a new scheme. I already got about 50% off the bill but what we found out was that since there is a new policy being implemented, almost the whole bill is actually covered.

Wow! This is new. I know this is helpful, but I still pray that Andy doesn;t get sick anymore. That’s wishful thinking, but I am praying.

Of dinner, earthquake, tsunami and faith

March 12th, 2011 No comments

I just came home from a long planned dinner with my aunt.  She has been telling me, us, to visit her and just hang out in her small space here in Dubai… It just didn’t happen last year. Finally found time today.

It was a sad and happy dinner.  Sad because there had just been a devastating 8.9 magnitude quake that hit Japan this morning, Dubai time.  And deadly tsunami followed soon after.  It was really scary, we are so many miles away but watching everything on TV, especially the tsunami and the water that swallowed a big part of the devastated region in Japan was really scary.  It just put tears on my eyes.

The added scare was when they issued a tsunami warning which included the Philippines, particularly Davao del Sur. Davao is located in the eastern seaboard of the country. The tsunami which struck Japan could also be devastating to other countries, cities including ours. My worry was Andy and Mama. Andy because she’s only with Nanay.

Before midnight in the Philippines, the warning was lifted.  Everything’s okay. At least for now. But we can never be very very complacent.

Our faith is tested today.  Christians I know / friends who are members of facebook has called out to Jesus Christ for help.  In the midst of all that has happened I am glad that we all have come to pray. There will be a miracle.  All we need is faith.

Pacquiao vs Margarito

November 13th, 2010 1 comment

Life in the Philippines will go on hold tomorrow.  I was watching the news (TV Patrol) and almost all the news item pertains to tomorrow’s (or is it tonight’s in the case of the US) boxing fight.  Should Pacquiao win this one, it’ll be his 8th belt, world record once more.  But if Margarito snatches this win, as I gather he’s kinda bad-ass in the boxing world, he may be able to redeem himself  (again, he should do it cleanly!) and hopefully be able to get his license back to fight in Vegas.

Needless to say, as the Philippines is one big “boxing fanatic” nation, maybe because there are weight divisions which we can really be good at (combining our standard height and strength).  The armed forces have implied a truce tomorrow, as I gather from the news program… No offensive attacks to the rebels in order to give the soldiers a chance to watch the match. Which I have to tell you, if you don’t have Pay per view, you have to wait for over 3 hours for it to finish.  By the time that I wake up and get myself ready to work, the fight may be under way.  By the time I reach the office, it may be through.  I hope Pacquiao will win though.

President Aquino’s SONA 2011

July 26th, 2010 No comments

I am eagerly awaiting the SONA of President Noynoy Aquino in the Internet. Too bad I was not able to bring my head-set. Bad. Too bad.

There were a lot of news articles saying that this SONA will be different from the previous ones, was that nine of GMA? I hope so. PNoy has really piqued the interest not only of his supporters but of known critics as well.

Let’s see what he has in store for the OFWs.

Less than 30 minutes to go, I’ll be eagery reading twits and checking on the news sites of Inquirer and ABS-CBN.
